Gaviscon Peppermint Liquid Relief is used for the treatment of symptoms of gastro-oesophageal reflux such as acid regurgitation, heartburn and indigestion, which may occur, for example, following meals or during pregnancy. Forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents to help soothe burning sensation in your chest so, for symptoms of heartburn or indigestion Gaviscon can help provide fast, soothing relief. When the sodium alginate comes into contact with the irritating gastric acid, the alginate forms a “raft”, which acts as a protective barrier over your stomach contents, stopping acid from rising and soothing the burning sensation in your chest in the process. Heartburn can have a huge impact on both your quality and quantity of sleep, with acid reflux most likely to occur around bedtime. Also Contains: Calcium carbonate, carbomer, methyl (E218) and propyl (E216) parahydroxybenzoates, sodium saccharin, sodium hydroxide, peppermint flavour.

If you usually take Gaviscon regularly but forget to take a dose, do not double your dose the next time. Sometimes, if Gaviscon does not work or agree with you, your doctor or pharmacist may suggest another reflux suppressant. If you’re dealing with a newborn or a very young child (below a year old), ask your doctor before use. Gaviscon Advance Liquid comes in peppermint flavour and can be taken to ease the cough associated with reflux (known as reflux oesophagitis).

Adults and children over 12 years: take 5-10ml (one to two 5ml spoonfuls) after meals and at bedtime or as directed. This is a remedy for indigestion, acid reflux and heartburn, helping to keep excess stomach acid under control and keeping irritation at bay.
