About this deal

This is where the Extinction Trials come in: a Hunger Games style contest where 100 people are sent to Piloria and encounter a number of gruelling missions and tasks (and that’s aside from the dinosaurs! Some of the characters hate the dinosaurs and want nothing more than to see them all dead, others are interested but rightfully wary and a few believe that the dinosaurs should be treated just as the humans would want to be: with respect. For one it’s about dinosaurs, who doesn’t like those; its set pieces are wonderfully executed, you feel the tension, the horror, the despair in all that transpires. Fans of Jurassic Park and The Hunger Games will love this book and although I could appreciate the quality of the writing, the excitement of the story and the storyline it’s not my kind of book. It’s poorly built and that’s infuriating double-time because the book boasts of being similar to the Hunger Games.

I like this book because it shows that the group of youngsters are willing to die for the people they love. However, I didn't rate this a 5 as it wouldn't personally be a book i look at and think 'wow i want to read that' and much rather would be 'eh looks boring. These are yearly trips and the survival of humanity potentially hinges on them so why the effing heck did they make this a all-serious competition? This is a dangerous place as it is the home of the dinosaurs, where previous finalists have failed to come back.Everything about this book is great, from the beautiful cover, to the interesting characters, to the intense main story; it’s just amazing. But I felt that this just made the book even better as the scenes were so detailed, well written and I just felt that they were perfectly spread throughout the book, so there wasn’t too much or too little. Basic Plot: Resources are scarce, a vast understatement, on the continent of Earthasia, where the entire human race, or what is left of it, lives.

They add this tournament/arena-fighting/trials/games shit in every book now even if it makes no sense. The Extinction Trials is a story about a fictional earth where humans and dinosaurs exist together at the same time. How old is this world that when we get to the current situation of diminishing space, food and power, people still have virtually no idea or knowledge about dinosaurs? Yet another of my favourite characters died in this book, which is disappointing but also expected considering the vein this story was taking. Well if the small short review doesn’t grab your attention I am sure the small circular sticker that graces the cover of the beautifully crafted and eye-catching young adult book ‘ The Extinction Trials’ that reads.Storm is strong and questions everything, she has a bond with a plesiosaur she’s named Milo who lives in the lake, so has an affinity for the dinosaurs which no one else understands, not that she spreads that around. She stands up for what she believes in, and even when it goes a bit wrong she manages to turn it back around in her favour. The prose is strong and direct and helps to take the reader into a world that has been masterfully created, leaving you never doubting what is being said and what is unfolding before the characters.
