FRONTLINE PLUS ®, FRONTLINE TRI-ACT ® and FRONTLINE ® SPOT ON have an exemplary safety profile and adverse reactions to the treatments are very rare. It doesn't stop ticks from attaching but kills them within 48 hours, minimising the risk of disease transmission. Fleas and ticks are killed through contact with your pet’s skin and coat – they don’t need to bite to be killed. Apply on the skin at the base of the neck in front of the shoulder blades, it kills adult fleas and ticks on the pet.

The (S)-methoprene in FRONTLINE Plus for Dogs prevents development of flea eggs and flea larvae, breaking the flea life cycle. These glands act as a reservoir, continuously replenishing FRONTLINE Plus for Dogs onto the skin and hair coat, so it keeps working even if the dog gets wet. In the meantime, treated animals should not be handled and children should not be allowed to play or sleep with them. It is only for use in cats, unfortunately there are no over the counter worming spot ons for use on dogs.Frontline do not make a worming spot on however you can use Dronspot, this is a spot on that covers roundworms and tapeworms. They die by 'excitation' so it is expected to see increased flea activity during this 48 hour period as the fleas are killed. However, fleas are killed after contact with your treated pet: within 24 hours for FRONTLINE PLUS ® and FRONTLINE ® SPOT ON, or within 6 hours for FRONTLINE TRI-ACT ®. However this is a bird specific mite and so it should not be able to cause an infestation in your dog. Some may die before biting however some may take up to the full 48 hours to die, by which point they will have latched on.

Even if you have treated your pet for fleas, some fleas may lay eggs before dying, therefore it is important to tackle flea eggs. When used as directed, pets treated with FRONTLINE ® flea and tick treatments do not pose a health risk to children or adults.

FRONTLINE Plus ® is a topical treatment which goes over your dog’s skin and hair to kill fleas and ticks through contact with them – they don’t have to bite your dog to be killed. To treat dogs over 60 kg with FRONTLINE TRI-ACT ®, use the appropriate combination of two pipette sizes that most closely matches the bodyweight. This means if you purchase a 3 pack or 6 pack for one pet then it will have enough treatment for 3 or 6 months.

Fipronil kills ticks (Dermacentor reticulatus, Dermacentor variabilis, Rhipicephalus sanguineus, Ixodes scapularis, Ixodes ricinus, Haemaphysalis longicornis, Haemaphysalis flava, Haemaphysalis campanulata) and lice within 48 hours post-exposure. Bathing/shampooing/water exposure does not affect the efficacy of the product as long as it doesn’t occur more than once a week.FRONTLINE PLUS ® for extra-large dogs can be used on dogs over 40 kg – there’s no upper weight limit for this product. The only products containing these two ingredients are prescription only medications and so we will require a written prescription from your vet to dispense them to you.
